As I leave behind a year that started with the struggles of the coronavirus and passed the year with the pandemic, I'm going to write about what was my experiences, my achievements, my thoughts, and the key points of this year in my sight.

The topics that I will talk about my year while I summarize the year are as follows:

  • The College Life
  • Working While Studying
  • Books I’ve Read This Year
  • Projects
  • Health
  • Investment

The College Life👨‍🎓

Let's get started with everyone's nightmare, the education system includes both face-to-face and online after half of the year. I had the opportunity to observe face-to-face lectures as well as the online periods for some time; if I had to compare them, face-to-face lectures were not necessary at all. It felt like a burden, at least for the part of my department.

My grades have never been A+. I usually come as a C- student, so it looks like graduation has been coming. ❄️

Another thing I’ve seen this year is that I have taken quite a lot of courses like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data mining. I guess there will be no other professions other than these in the future, or it's just my professor's ideas.

Working While Studying 👨‍💻

Our next topic is one of the very rare positive achievements that this pandemic has contributed to me.

While attending classes at home during the coronavirus period, I did more front-end work than ever before (I’m mentioning small projects here). Thanks to these projects, I had the opportunity to meet a great team during my internship search process, and I got a job offer after the internship from a company that has a friendly environment.

Then my working adventure has begun. Since July, I have been pleased to develop projects with my teammates that I have been working with for almost half a year, and I hope we will do much better works.

The most challenging part at this point is the time planning. When the courses, the graduation project, and the company's works bunch up, Some days I have to push to limits and work more than my standard working hour. Of course, they are not unsolvable problems, but I may have to manage well in the new year.

Books I’ve Read This Year 📚

My thoughts on books and reading had changed a lot at the beginning of the year. Before 2021, I didn’t consider reading many books. When I compare with my previous years I couldn't spend a lot of time on this.

Nevertheless, at the beginning of the year, I promised myself that I would take the time to read books and articles. Unfortunately, there is no effort that read novels and storybooks a lot. This year my reading list was consists of self-awareness and finance books that I find fabulous. You can reach the site where I list the books I’ve read.

Even though it makes me sad to be below the figures, I have aimed for it. It is enough to have read more than what I read in a typical year. One of the most significant lessons I have learned here is if I want to work in a new field having not enough knowledge, which is very beneficial to do it by using the experiences of people who have tried it before.

I have already prepared a good reading list for 2022. I have complete faith that I'm going to be much more stable this year than in the previous years.

Projects 🗄

The best way to improve yourself is definitely to produce something. When I watched many tutorials in the frontend learning process and copied them, I realized that I couldn’t improve much, but when I started doing my projects that day, I was relieved :)

That’s why this topic is perhaps the essential part of the article, and I see today that it doesn’t matter what kind of project you do, what type and variety of technologies you use, all it takes is to have done it, Dan Abramov has a great tweet on this point.

In general, I did UI-based works during the year. Of course, it was not a bad start for 2021, but I think it would be better to develop it in 2022 and make structures that I will discover a bit of what is behind the work. This year, I plan to make so many contributions to open-source projects.

Health 👨‍⚕

It would be okay not to speak of health while so many diseases are around. I think I had gained 5–10 kilos extra because I spent most of 2021 at home, and I had come to the point where it caused me some ache problems while walking.

With the decrease in the effects of the corona, I immediately started to go to the gym, and now I have reached my ideal weight, and thanks to this new habit, I think I will be doing active sports for a very long time. Maybe for decades 😂 because feeling fit is an incredible sense.

Investment 💰

Finally, I would like to talk about a topic that I discovered towards the end of the year that completely changed my perspective on the world. I can say that investing started with a piece of belief I came face to face with the chapters in some of the books I read, how important and necessary it is to support.

After seeing the advantages of investing some of our earnings in companies these days so that you can earn a decent living standard in the future, how we can make more by working less, and what being economically free will bring, I started to allocate resources for investment, even though I am very new to this sector, to read the work of companies, examine their financial reports and make predictions. It keeps me up to date and makes me happy to make some gains.

Summary and Feelings ✏️

This was a quick recap of my year. When I look at the past year, I achieved the goals I set for myself where I postponed and could not reach the goal before, even from afar.

I am generally happy for 2021. Although things do not seem to be going well in my country and the world, let’s check what will wait for me next year

Thank you so much if you’ve read this far. 🥳🥳
